Sermon: Trusting God in Uncertain Times

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Introduction
We live in a world where uncertainty seems to be the only certainty. Jobs can change overnight, health can fail, relationships can shake, and the plans we carefully built can crumble in a moment. In such times, the question becomes: Where do we place our trust?
1. The Limitation of Human Understanding
The writer of Proverbs reminds us not to lean on our own understanding. Our wisdom, though valuable, is limited. We often see only a small part of the bigger picture. But God sees the end from the beginning. What confuses us today may be part of a greater testimony tomorrow.
2. The Call to Complete Trust
Notice the scripture doesn’t say “trust in the Lord with part of your heart,” but all your heart. Trusting God is not a backup plan—it’s a lifestyle of surrender. Even when the path is dark, we hold on to the One who is the Light.
3. God’s Assurance of Guidance
The promise is clear: He will make your paths straight. This doesn’t mean life will be without challenges. But it means God will guide, direct, and bring us safely to His purpose. When we walk in obedience, no detour, delay, or disappointment can stop His plan for us.
Conclusion
Today, I encourage you: release the burden of control. Surrender your fears, your plans, and your uncertainties to the Lord. Trust Him wholeheartedly. He is faithful to lead you into peace, provision, and purpose.
Prayer
Father, teach us to trust You fully. In times of doubt, remind us of Your faithfulness. Straighten our paths and align us with Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
